Paul Smith has a background in academia, running his own businesses, and in supporting high growth entrepreneurs. He shares with us some strategies to follow instead of being concerned about learning from failure. And he explains the concepts of a growth entrepreneur, disruptive entrepreneurship and the role of mentorship and education in helping us to grow entrepreneurs.  Paul also touches on the biological process of fear and anxiety and the role that might play in our fear of failure, as well as decision making in dealing with risks.

About Paul Smith

Paul Smith has founded a number of companies in a variety of industries from boat manufacturing to innovation consulting. He currently runs Civitas a CEO network and peer learning organisation for high growth entrepreneurs.

His primary research interests include the habits and decision frameworks of great CEOs, disruptive entrepreneurship, as well as, how to best support high potential start-ups and founders. He has a BCom from Rhodes University and a Masters in Entrepreneurship from the University of Pretoria.
