There are some “Laws” in this world that many authors, gurus and accomplished people talk about. The theory states that the universe works according to a set of laws, which are as real as and have as much impact on our lives as the Law of Gravity. These are laws like the Law of Attraction, which the movie “The Secret” made very popular.

Dan Millman, well known author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives, explains a vast number of Laws that pertain to all aspects of life in one of his other books entitled The Life You Were Born to Live: A Guide to Finding Your Life Purpose. These laws express a higher order and have been consistent and far reaching throughout history.

Telana jumping in the airAnd their power and use is uncovered as we apply them in our lives, as with so much. Through actual application, we have an experience of something and then have a better understanding to make a judgement of its usefulness.

I was recently working on my life vision, and part of that document includes my own summary of the Laws that I find most engaging for myself. The Law of Action is one such law, and taking action must be one of the most critical variables to success. We can have all the most wonderful ideas in the world, but without actioning them – that is putting our time and energy and taking specific steps and doing specific activities related to those ideas – they just remain wonderful ideas.

My summary of the Law of Action from Dan Millman’s book is:

Law of Action – To overcome self doubt, I need to acknowledge my vulnerability but act with confidence. No matter what I feel or know, no matter what my potential gifts or talents, only action brings them to life. We only know when we act- doing becomes understanding. It’s better to do what we need to do than not do it and have a good reason. So … Just do it!

The peaceful warriors of this world don’t wait for permission- they know and sense what action to take and choose the way of courage and integrity. If their heart confirms it, they act, despite feelings of fear, self doubt or insecurity that may arise. They act and let their subjective life – their thoughts and feelings – run to catch up!

Fear is not some kind of reason for not doing something. The only time I have a chance to show courage is when I’m afraid. I feel the fear, then just do what I need to do.

This is one of the spiritual Laws that I leverage to live my life purpose. What are yours?

To you taking action!
